Harrisburg Community ForumHealth care, business, government and consumer representatives gathered on August 27, 2008 in Harrisburg, PA, for the third AHA-cosponsored discussion of comprehensive health care reform.
Co-hosted by the Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) and Pennsylvania Cable Network, the event focused on ways to make health care more accessible and less expensive. HAP President and CEO Carolyn Scanlan called reform “complex” and “multidimensional,” saying all stakeholders share a social mission and will need to make sacrifices.
“We don’t want anyone to be left with the impression that we view only hospitals as the place you get care,” said Scanlan, an AHA trustee. “The underlying issue is how we put all the pieces of the system together.” The forum was broadcast live to some 3.3 million cable subscribers across the state.
